Photoshop es el editor para manipular fotografías que más se utiliza hoy en día. Pero antes de que existiera, ya se usaban otras técnicas. Con los daguerrotipos, los fotógrafos usaban doble exposición para crear efectos divertidos. Diversas técnicas de manipulación de la fotografía fueron utilizadas por artistas para retocar los paisajes de sus fotos o por publicistas para mejorar la imagen del producto que vendían. También fue utilizado en el ámbito político, lo que causó controversia. Por ejemplo, se conoce que Stalin eliminaba a sus oponentes de las fotografías o hacía manipular fotos de mitines que nunca habían existido. Hoy en día, con el Photoshop es mucho más sencillo el retocar fotografías y está más perfeccionado. Pero en 1985 no era tan sencillo, las fotografías eran retocadas con pintura o tinta. Ahora, no es tan aparatoso como antes. Les dejamos unas fotografías que muestran lo bien que quedaban las imágenes retocadas con otras técnicas de la época.
